INGOBYI-ACTIVITY MENTORSHIP PROJECT 2018 AND ONGOING

The  project was  supported by IntraHealth International-Rwanda  as a sub-grant from a  USAID funded project called  Ingobyi Activity. The  RAM mentors were given mandate  to provide a 3-days LDHF mentorship  visits  to increase the knowledge, skills  and critically thinking level of nurses and midwives in response to  the emergencies in maternal and neonatal care with  focus of top major causes of deaths for mothers and babies such as prevention and management of intrapartum and post-partum haemorrhage, management of preeclampsia and eclampsia and prevention and management of puerperal infection,  Helping Baby Breathe 2.0 , Essential Care for Every Baby, Essential Care for Small Babies, Respectful Maternity Care and Postnatal Care.   Also  to support the initiation, implementation, monitoring evaluation of quality improvement projects and all in close collaboration with district hospital directors and RSOG and RPA mentors.

 This project is being conducted in 20 district hospitals of Kigali City, Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Provinces of Rwanda and the recent data show that over  626 Nurses and midwives has been mentored and awarded certificates of champions  in Basic Emergency Obstetric & Neonatal Care (B-EMONC) and a number of QI projects were initiated and some were successfully accomplished with a great positive change in quality of health services delivery as evidenced by the monthly
