The project was funded by ICM in collaboration with  Laerdal, and it was operated in 20 district hospitals of Kigali city, northern, southern, and western provinces of Rwanda.  The project was designed to offer  intensive preservices and inservices training for 8000 health care providers that were allocated in Maternal and Neonatal Care services and for the period of 2 years.  Those trainings focused on full package of Helping Mothers Survive (HMS) and Helping Babies Survive (HBS) training modules included the Management of third stage of labour as part of  Bleeding After Birth Complete,  Pee-eclampsia and Eclampsia, Respectful Maternity Care, Infection Control and Prevention and Interprofessional Collaboration and teamwork. 

In addition to HMS, the training included the modules on Helping Baby Survive such Helping Baby Breath 2.0, Essential Care for Every Baby, Essential Care for Small/Sick Babies and Post-discharge Care.  At the end, RAM was able to achieve 82.8% of target by training 6626 of 8000 targeted health care providers included  15 (100% of target) trained as National Facilitators, 27 (38.5% of target) as Masters Trainers, 1409 (380.8% of target) as Trainers, 5190 (76% of target) as Champions. in addition, the  end assessment in covered facilities showed  the Postpartum Hemorrhagic fatality rate was reduced from 9% in 2018 to 4% in 2019, a  total number of maternal deaths due to PPH were decreased from 10 to 6 cases;  fatality rate due to pre-eclampsia and eclampsia  was reduced from 4% to 0%; Neonatal asphyxia case fatality rate reduced from 18% to 17.6%, while neonatal deaths within 24 hours were decreased  from 0.7% to 0.4%; and fresh stillbirths from 1.2% to 1% though the project implementation period.
